Evangelism

The Bible tells us:

"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey eveything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you to the very end of the age."
(Matthew 28:16-20)

Evangelism is so important. It is the church actively reaching out and telling people about Jesus. As a church we try and have an aspect of evangelism in everything we do. In each church run group we try in some way to have a focus on wanting people to come to faith in Jesus Christ. By no means are we perfect in all we do...there is certainly more we can do and will do.

So what have we done, do we do in this important area of the Church's ministry?

At Bamford Chapel and Norden URC we have run several Alpha courses. The very first one they did many years ago turned into a Bible Study group that still meets today. The more recent Alpha courses we have run have each turned into a small study/home group. Alpha is a great course for those who know little or nothing about the Christian Faith. More details can be found via our links page or by clicking alpha

In recenet years we have held a Christianity Explored course. This course is run on similar lines to Alpha and has been run by our minister, Richard. Following this we began our Tuesday night homegroup that looked at the follow on course from Christianity Explored called Discipleship Explored.

We have delivered prayer cards around Bamford and prayed on the streets of the community.

We have also held a "Praise in the Park" act of worship in a local park. This has been done twice with churches from North West Rochdale and churches from Heywood also being invited to take part. Both of these were good events where we were able to show the people in our communities that we are christians worshipping and working together.
